Monday, July 2nd

Happy first day of camp at Christ Community Church here in Franklin, Tennessee! We are so excited to kick things off and we cannot wait to see what the week brings us!

Today started off when campers checked in at the registration table and found out which Republic they were in. Republics are groups that campers are put into for the entire week. Campers got to know their Republic leaders and meet new friends this morning right before All Camp Meeting.

All Camp Meeting is where the entire camp meets for worship and listens to a speaker. Afterwards, they walk together to their Republic rooms to discuss what the speaker said. During this time today, they also came up with a name for their Republics and designed a flag together.

Once Republics finished meeting, they went back to where they met for All Camp Meeting to dismiss for specialties. Specialities are classes that campers get to participate in throughout the week and learn new things. Campers K-2nd grade transition through specialities, while 3-7th grade get to pick their own specialities. These happen twice a day, once after devotional and once after team building.

Camp may have just begun, but campers really have started to find things they love about camp. Kalynn Martin from Republic Three said that what she loves most about Barefoot are the chants!

This week is off to a great start so far and we cannot wait to see what the rest of the week brings.

Tuesday, July 3rd

It’s Day Two here at Christ Community Church and we are so happy to be here! Today we started off watching a daily recap video, followed by a visit from our friends Gus and Gigi. We then worshiped together with Ms. Amanda and then heard from Pastor Craig about asking Jesus for help. After hearing from Pastor Craig, we went to our Republic rooms to discuss what was said and start storying, which is when Republic leaders tell a story in detail from the Bible and campers talk about it together.

Once family devotionals was wrapped up, campers went to their first specialty, lunch, and then team building. Team building is where campers participate in activities with their Republics to try and bond as a group. Some of these activities include an obstacle course, diversity dots, slime challenge, hula ball, and more. Campers really learn about working as a team and have the opportunity to widen their horizons and talk to someone they wouldn’t normally talk to. Grant Jones from Republic Six said that his favorite team building activity is the mine field in the Obstacle Course.

After team building is free time, which is where campers have the opportunity to choose to participate in a variety of activities. Some of these activities include water slide, football, basketball, nap time, and more.

That’s all we have for today! Come back tomorrow for another update on the happenings at camp.

Wednesday, July 4th

Hello there and Happy Fourth of July! It’s Day Three here at Day Camp, and we’re looking forward to a spectacular day.

To kick the day off, we watched the daily recap video and then played a game. In this game, campers had to pick up Skittles in a bowl with a straw and put them in a cup. But the trick to this was that they had to pick up a designated color. And in this round, the ladies won. Good job ladies!

Once the game wrapped up, we then transitioned to worship and heard from Pastor Craig. After hearing what he had to say, we then went back to our Republics for family devotional time. There we continued with storying lead by our Republic leaders.

After family time, we went to our first specialty of the day. By now, you must  be familiar with specialties and what they are. But if you still do not know what they are, a few examples of specialties are archery, making of the band, art, spoken word, dance, football, basketball, and more!

And that’s a wrap on today! Tomorrow is picture day and Iron Man. We’ll go more in depth with both of those things tomorrow. But for now, enjoy your Independence Day!

“G-O-O-D  M-O-R-N-I-N-G…Good Morning, Hey Hey Good Morning!” It’s Day Four here and we can’t believe how fast time has been escaping us. But we are excited for today because today is Iron Man!

But before Iron Man today, we had pictures for all Republics. Campers also got their camp T-shirts to wear during the picture, and are encouraged to wear them tomorrow on the last day of camp.

I bet you’ve been wondering what Iron Man is. Well, Iron Man operates like a relay race, but with a Barefoot twist. Each Republic is a team and they all work together to win. Every camper in the Republic is assigned a station to complete, and as the Republic goes through each obstacle, they pick up one another as they go. Some obstacles that campers go through includes thumb print, marble fishing, cup slingshot, javelin toss, extreme sports, and more. They are scored based on teamwork, hype ness, and encouragement. The first female Republic and male Republic to finish the last obstacle wins!

The first Republics to finish were Republics Four and Seven, but the winners will be announced tomorrow. But for now, that’s all we have for today! We’ll see you back here tomorrow for the last time, and hopefully for Youth Production.

Friday, July 6th

Hey everyone, happy Day Five! We’re so sad that the week has gone by so quickly, but we are looking forward to making today the best day of the week!

Before we get into things, it’s time to announce the winners of Iron Man. For the ladies, we have Republic Three, and for the fellas we have Republic Seven. Congratulations to our winners and to all who participated!

To kick the day off, we held our last All Camp Meeting today and afterwards met with our Republics for one last family devotional. Once that was wrapped up, campers went on to their specialties for the last time and practiced for Youth Production. This made it the perfect opportunity to tie up any loose ends they might have before Youth Production. After free time today, campers will have some time to rehearse for the production before parents arrive.

This is the time of the week where we say farewell to each other. Thank you to all the campers who came this week and made it fantastic! We hope you had an amazing time and made a lot of friends. We also hope to see you back here next year for even more fun. But most importantly, we hope that you learned that everyone is longed for in this world by Jesus.
