Monday, June 25th

Hey there and happy Monday! It’s our first day of Day Camp here at Woodmont Baptist Church and we are so happy to be here! Today started out with campers checking in at registration and then heading to the Chapel for All Camp Meeting. This is where campers met their Republic leaders and fellow campers, and worship with our Program Director and Emcee, Shelby, followed shortly after.

After participating in the festivities of All Camp Meeting, campers went back to their Republic rooms to brainstorm with one another on what to name their Republic. They also collaborated together on a Republic chant and flag, which they will showcase to the entire camp throughout the entire week.

Once they finished meeting with their Republics, campers then went to their first specialty of the day. Specialities are classes that campers get to participate in throughout the week and learn new things. Campers K-2nd grade transition through specialities, while 3-7th grade get to pick their own specialities. These happen twice a day, once after devotional and once after team building. At the end of the week, campers will get the opportunity to showcase the skills that they learned in their specialties at Youth Production.

Team building happens after lunch, where campers participate in activities with their Republics to try and bond as a group. Some of these activities include an obstacle course, diversity dots, slime challenge, hula ball, and more. Campers really learn about working as a team and have the opportunity to widen their horizons and talk to someone they wouldn’t normally talk to.

This has been a great start to the week and we are all looking forward to seeing how the week plays out!

Tuesday, June 26th

It’s Tuesday, Day Two, and we are so excited for today! We kicked the day off with worship at All Camp Meeting and watched a video recap from yesterday. Campers also stretched with Ms. Ina and learned a few camp dances.

Once they finished up at All Camp Meeting, campers then went with their Republics to family devotionals, where they heard the first story of the week. Republic leaders led this and told a story from the Bible about Jesus telling Peter to cast his net into the ocean when he hadn’t caught anything all day. Campers shared their thoughts on what the story meant to them and how they could use it in the future.

After family devotionals, campers went to their specialities, and then team building. Following team building is free time, where campers then have the option to do what they want, such as go down the water slide, play soccer, football, or just relax.

That’s all for today! Come back tomorrow for another update.

“G-O-O-D  M-O-R-N-I-N-G…Good Morning, Hey Hey Good Morning!” Happy Day Three at Woodmont Baptist Church! It’s Wednesday and we are so happy to be here.

To start the day off, campers went to All Camp Meeting and participated in the usual activities. They also met up Gigi and Gus, who are our friends that visit us during All Camp Meeting. After that, campers went to their Republic rooms for family devotional time.

Today is picture day for the ladies in Republics One through Five! This means that these campers will get their T-shirts and take a photo with their Republic and then take an individual headshot. You can pick up your camper’s Republic photo up on Friday before Youth Production!

Everyone here is looking forward to tomorrow! Why you might ask? Because tomorrow is Iron Man! We will explain what that is tomorrow, but I guarantee that it’ll loads of fun!

Thursday, June 28th

Happy Thursday, y’all! It’s Day four, can you believe it?! Camp has been flying by so fast and it’s crazy to think that we only have one day left. But today is a very special day. Why? Because today is Iron Man!

Iron Man is operates like a relay race, but with a Barefoot twist. Each Republic is a team and they all work together to win. Every camper in the Republic is assigned a station to complete, and as the Republic goes through each obstacle, they pick up one another as they go. Some obstacles that campers go through includes thumb print, marble fishing, cup slingshot, javelin toss, extreme sports, and more. They are scored based on teamwork, hype ness, and encouragement. The first female Republic and male Republic to finish the last obstacle wins!

The first ones to finish Iron Man were Republics Eight and Ten for the fellas, and Republic Five for the ladies. But as for our winners, those will be posted tomorrow!

And that’s Iron Man! Tomorrow is Youth Production and we are so excited to see you all there.

Friday, June 29th

Good Morning and Happy Friday! It’s Day Five, which means that today is the last day of camp. Can you believe how fast the time has gone?! We’re sad that time has escaped us so quickly, but we know that this is going to be the best last day!

We held our last All Camp Meeting today and afterwards met with our Republics for one last family devotional. Once that was wrapped up, campers went on to their specialties for the last time and practiced for Youth Production. This made it the perfect opportunity to tie up any loose ends they might have before Youth Production. After free time today, campers will have some time to rehearse for the production before parents arrive.

Yesterday was Iron Man, and we had so much fun participating in the festivities! The winners this time was Republic Four for the ladies, and Republic Ten for the fellas. Way to go, y’all! Congratulations to our winners and to everyone who participated.

This is the time of the week where we say farewell to each other. Thank you to all the campers who came this week and made it fantastic! We hope you had an amazing time and made a lot of friends. We also hope to see you back here next year for even more fun. But most importantly, we hope that you learned that everyone is longed for in this world.
