Barefoot at the Farm 2 | June 11 – 15

Monday, June 11th

Hello there and a very happy first day of Day Camp Farm II to you! The second the first bus came into the gates, the entire staff welcomed the campers with chants. We can feel that this was going to be a fantastic start to the week and We are so excited to start this week and meet new friends!

Today after campers checked in at the registration table, they headed over to their Republic tents in the Magical Forest to meet their Republic Leaders and fellow campers. The Magical Forest is a new addition this year, where the Republic tents are located. Besides the tents, the Magical Forest also houses a stage, stepping stones, and the Gaga ball pit (a fan favorite). It’s also the perfect place to cool off and get some shade. Maybe that’s why it’s so magical?!

After meeting with their Republics, campers went to All Camp Meeting, where they met our friends Gus and Gigi for the first time! Gigi and Gus brought a dilemma to the meeting: Gigi accidentally kicked Gus’s soccer ball signed by the David Beckham into the intimidating Old Lady May’s yard. Throughout the week, we will see how the situation plays out!

Once All Camp meeting wrapped up, we transitioned on over to our specialities. Specialities are classes that campers get to participate in throughout the week and learn new things. Campers K-2nd grade transition through specialities, while 3-7th grade get to pick their own specialities.

Following specialities is Outdoor Adventure, where campers are assigned to an activity. Outdoor adventure is a time where campers participate in activities in the great outdoors! It’s a fan favorite amongst campers.

This is looking to be a perfect first day of camp so far and we can’t wait to see what Tuesday brings to the table! Come back to this page tomorrow to see what’s going on.

Tuesday, June 12th

“G-O-O-D  M-O-R-N-I-N-G…Good Morning, Hey Hey Good Morning!” Happy Day Two of Day Camp at the Farm II! Despite the small chance of rain, today is looking to be a beautiful day and we are excited to see what today unfolds.

After meeting up with their Republics outside of their tent, campers marched up to the loft in the barn for All Camp Meeting. They started out with worship with Amy Grant and Daves Highway, and then reunited with Gigi and Gus yet again. Today we actually met Old Lady May, who came in eating sardines of all things. Needless to say, she wasn’t very happy that Gigi and Gus kicked the soccer ball into her yard and refused to give it back to them. So Gigi and Gus decided to try and camouflage themselves with the help of some of their friends from the audience! We’ll come back tomorrow to see how the situation continues to play out.

Once Gigi and Gus run away, Pastor Danny came up to speak to the campers. Pastor Danny talked to the campers about puzzle pieces and sin, and how we can get mixed up in it all. After hearing from Pastor Danny, we transitioned to our first specialty of the day. When Republic Five was asked what their favorite specialties were, Grace Anne Kepler and Deen Garrett both said horseback, which was the most popular answer. Another popular answer amongst the group was dance. Jazzlyn Rose was a strong advocate for this specialty!

In our Republics today, we made our flags and came up with a Republic name. Making a Republic flag is a very special part of camp, and it symbolizes unity inside of the Republic. Campers really enjoy making their flags with their fellow campers and displaying them throughout the week for all the camp to see.

That’s all for today! See you back here tomorrow.

Wednesday, June 13th

Hey there and happy Wednesday! Today is the third day of camp, can you believe it?! We are halfway there! It’s sad to see time fly by so fast, but we are excited to see what the rest of the week brings!

Today in All Camp Meeting we met up with Gigi and Gus again to find out that Old Lady May was going to throw out Gus’s soccer ball at 10 a.m. on Friday! This made Gus very upset and he started to cry. I wonder what the duo will do over the next 48 hours to try and get back Gus’s ball!

Picture day is today! Republics took group photos and the campers also had their individual headshots taken. Campers also got their T-shirts to wear in the photo and are encouraged to wear them on Friday. You can pick these photos up on Friday before or after Youth Production.

For lunch today, the Chick-Fil-A cow and Bubba and Cindy came, who are the owners of Chick-Fil-A! They also brought with them the famous Chick-Fil-A sandwiches and nuggets! It was our pleasure having them on campgrounds, Bubba and Cindy were a delight to have around (especially when Bubba brought out his conch shell).

And that’s a wrap for today. We can’t wait to see what the rest of the week has for us.

Thursday, June 14th

What a happy Thursday it is! Can you believe there are only two days left of camp?! We keep asking ourselves where the time goes.

When we last saw Gigi and Gus, we learned that Old Lady May decided to dump Gus’s soccer ball out at 10 a.m. Friday. So Gigi decided to try and lie to Gus and give him what he thought was his ball, but was actually one that Gigi bought and tried to pass off as the real ball. Gus was upset, and Gigi had the idea to build a tunnel into Old Lady May’s yard. The campers helped them build the tunnel, and even ran into a few bugs along the way. Did it work? We’ll check back in tomorrow to see if it did.

Speaking of interesting critters, Safari Steve has been here all week with Silly Safari teaching and entertaining the kids with his wild animals. Some of his animals, include a vulture, snake, taranchela, and more. The campers really enjoyed seeing these creatures in action.

The campers are gearing up for tomorrow’s Youth Production and cannot wait to show everyone what they learned this week! Make sure you’re here tomorrow to see it, it’s definitely something you do not want to miss!

We will also be handing out Republic photos tomorrow, free of charge. Make sure you pick one up before or after Youth Production.

Friday, June 15th

It’s Friday! Where did the week go?! It’s day five and we’re sad to see the week fly by, but we are looking forward to making this the best day yet!

A resolution was found today between Old Lady May and Gigi and Gus. The two discovered that the reason Old Lady May was so grouchy was because she did not feel like she belonged anywhere. So Gus decided to invite Old Lady May over to play video games and eat spaghetti. Gigi protested at first, but then Gus reminded her that everyone is longed for and friends are made everywhere. This persuaded her and Gigi agreed to let Old Lady May come over. Old Lady May was so excited and felt so loved, she decided that giving back Gus’s soccer ball would be the right thing to do. Problem solved!

Youth Production is today! The campers have spent all week preparing for this and cannot wait to show everyone what they have learned! Some of the performance specialties include Making of the Band, Vocal Performance, Drama, Dance, and more. Other specialties showcase the skills they’ve learned by showing off an item that they made, like Visual Arts.

As the week wraps up, we want to say thank you to all the campers for coming out and making the last week at the Farm outstanding. We loved seeing every single one of your smiling faces and hope that you had a good time. We hope to see you back here next year!
