Every minute of day camp is designed to build friendships. Our diverse platform of activities, for incoming K-6th grade campers, offers something for everyone and an immediate opportunity to connect with other campers that share similar interests and passion. Our ratio of nearly 1 adult to every 2 campers is unmatched in the camping industry and will insure that every camper has the opportunity to grow spiritually, athletically and artistically. BAREFOOT CALIFORNIA HISTORY
In July 2015, Barefoot California was born with one Jr/Sr High session hosted at Irvine Ranch Outdoor Education Center just south of Los Angeles. Nearly 100 campers and counselors came together for Barefoot’s first expansion to a different region of the country. Headquartered in TN, with overnight camp property in KY, Barefoot Republic Camp has worked with more than 7,000 campers and awarded over $1,100,000 in scholarships since its founding in 2000. Now, Barefoot has expanded its multicultural camp ministry to greater Los Angeles – one of the most diverse and culturally rich cities in the world. Barefoot California was hosted at Forest Home-Ojai Valley in 2016 & in 2017 we hosted at YMCA – Big Bear.
There are many ways to get involved in camp. To serve at camp as a volunteer, investigate the “Serve” tab above and start your online staff application. Committed to keeping camp available to all members of our community, we are fundraising $17,500 in scholarships this year; invest in the scholarship fund (be sure to specify “Barefoot California” as cause) and track our fundraising progress.
