BAREFOOT CALIFORNIA

NOTICE: Unfortunately, there will be no Barefoot California camps held in 2019, but we are praying for support, volunteers, partners, and sponsors to enable us to bring it back in 2020.

With the potential of breaking ground on our new Lodge and introducing a new day camp session at our Kentucky facility, we have felt led to focus on our programs in Kentucky this year. However, we want to offer our families who have attended these special day camp and overnight camp sessions in California in the past to come experience overnight camp at our facility outside of Scottsville, Kentucky on Barren Lake!

This summer we are offering 7 overnight camp sessions that we would love for your kids to attend.  You may apply here.  As with any details or logistics, we will gladly help in any way we can from picking up or dropping off at the airport to sending out fundraising ideas to assist in your travel/camp expenses. And, of course, we are more than happy to extend the same scholarship assistance in KY as we have in the past in California.

If you have any questions, concerns, or would like to help bring Barefoot back to California, please contact Matt. We appreciate you and your commitment to Barefoot! We hope to see you this upcoming summer in Kentucky.

BAREFOOT CALIFORNIA HISTORY

—————————————————————————–
In July 2015, Barefoot California was born with one Jr/Sr High session hosted at Irvine Ranch Outdoor Education Center just south of Los Angeles. Nearly 100 campers and counselors came together for Barefoot’s first expansion to a different region of the country. Headquartered in TN, with overnight camp property in KY, Barefoot Republic Camp has worked with more than 7,000 campers and awarded over $1,100,000 in scholarships since its founding in 2000. Now, Barefoot has expanded its multicultural camp ministry to greater Los Angeles – one of the most diverse and culturally rich cities in the world. Barefoot California was hosted at Forest Home-Ojai Valley in 2016 & in 2017 we hosted at YMCA – Big Bear.

There are many ways to get involved in camp. To serve at camp as a volunteer, investigate the “Serve” tab above and start your online staff application. Committed to keeping camp available to all members of our community, we are fundraising $17,500 in scholarships this year; invest in the scholarship fund (be sure to specify “Barefoot California” as cause) and track our fundraising progressWatch our launch video to see more!
